Autumn Royal

Autumn Royal creates drama, poetry, and criticism. She is the founding editor of Liquid Architecture’s Disclaimer journal and has served as the interviews editor at Cordite Poetry Review since 2016. Her poetry collection, The Drama Student (Giramondo 2023), was shortlisted for the 2023 Judith Wright Calanthe Award and the 2024 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry.

Autumn is the facilitator of this year’s Texting Images program, and led the artists into workshops that culminated in the final reading at BLINDSIDE.

Texting Images: Launch

Drawing inspiration from Dadaist philosophies towards visual art alongside Maya Deren’s argument for ‘amateurism’, the 2026 iteration of Texting Images invites participants to write in response to ‘found images’. Across two workshops, participants will develop new writing through discussion, reading, and collaborative feedback, culminating in a celebratory public reading where they will share the work created throughout the program.
