Traverse the eight key elements of crime stories, with advice and examples to build an outline for your own thriller. This workshop is interactive, but there is no pressure to show or share work.

Troy Hunter

Troy Hunter is a bestselling crime writer, living in Melbourne/Naarm.

His debut YA novel Gus and the Missing Boy was published in March 2024 and was shortlisted for both the Ned Kelly Award and the BAD Sydney Danger Award for Best Debut Crime Fiction. The sequel Gus and the Burning Stones came out in August 2025. A third and final Gus novel Gus and the Climate Killer is due in March 2027.

Troy is passionate about getting boys into reading books, runs YA and crime writing workshops, and hosts the Queer Writes Sessions podcast.
