Nostalgic Debris

Mitchell (@mitch.writes) is an emerging Meanjin-based writer and photographer. He is focused on short fleeting moments of nostalgia and tenderness, prioritising the human experience while backgrounded by larger socio-political movements. His works often considers nature as home for all of us, the ultimate healer, and uses nature as a way to explore the delicate moments of life and to show how interconnected systems of oppression are. He dedicates his work to queerness, nostalgia and passion.

Danii Jasmine is a poet and writer who explores the depths of the human condition through the lens of surreal nostalgia, dark humour, and confessional fragments that make the familiar feel alien.

She had her poem “Brandy Melville” featured in ACE III: Arresting Contemporary Stories By Emerging Writers published by Recent Work Press in 2022. In 2024, she independently published her debut poetry collection HOMEMADE SHRINE, a mix between a collection and an interactive reader experience.

In 2025 she was selected as a member of the WestWords Academy Cohort. She has a B.A. in Creative Writing from Macquarie University.

Before becoming the deadly sistergirl the fascists fear, Samara-Jade was born out in rural Australia. She then had a heart attack before discovering dresses with pockets. Now, she is a freelance writer and narrative designer for video games. She still does MMA on the side, in between delivering talks and writing gothic fiction.

Anita Solak is a poet, editor and electronic literature artist living on unceded Wurundjeri land. Her writing can be found in Cordite, Going Down Swinging, and The Suburban Review, among others. She was a 2023 Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow, shortlisted for the 2023 Judith Wright Poetry Prize, and studied at the School for Poetic Computation in 2024. She is the Richell Prize Project Coordinator. Her practice is informed by her love of details, collective memory, and the failures of language.
