PEN Letter Writing Session
PEN Melbourne brings writers together to share experiences, explore ideas and conduct public conversations about how literature transforms, influences and fosters cross-cultural exchange. In this lunch time drop-in session, attendees can get involved with PEN’s letter writing program, designed to increase international pressure and attention on the persecution of writers exercising their rights to freedom of expression.
Join us for this session, and write letters to following writers and journalists who are currently incarcerated:
- •İlhan Sami Çomak: a Kurdish poet from Karlıova, Turkey.
- •Amanda Echanis (Philippines): a writer, poet and activist.
- •Freddy Antonio Quezada (Nicaragua): writer, academic and philosopher.
- •Narges Mohammadi (Iran): journalist and high-profile human rights campaigner.
- •Mahvash Sabet (Iran): award-winning poet and teacher.
