Emerging Writers’ Festival returns in 2025 from 11-18 September, and applications are now open for writers, storytellers and creatives of all kinds to be part of the fun.

Whether you’re a first-time poet, a digital creator, an essayist, a seasoned author, a music artist, a performer, or any mixture of these – we’re keen to hear what you want to bring to the 2025 Emerging Writers’ Festival.

Emerging Writers’ Festival is so-called Australia’s premiere festival for new writers and literature! From our festival’s home in Victoria, we program artists from around the continent, and a huge portion of our final program comes from this open artist call-out.

If you don’t know, we are primarily a festival for writers – our audience and our artists are all storytellers of various kinds. Our mission is to champion, develop and promote Australia’s new writing talent, with a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Over the past 20 years, we’ve cultivated a national community of rigorous and critical storytellers, and each festival is a chance for new creative connections to be made with brand-new artists. This is your chance to join the EWF community!!
