The Digital Writers’ Festival is an online-first writers’ festival dedicated to celebrating the work of writers from Australia and across the world, and fostering new relationships through collaboration between writers, wherever they may be.
Each year, we run an open artist call out for writers to put up their hands and let us know they’d like to be involved in the program. Best of all, location is no barrier to access – you can be anywhere from Darwin to Dunedin, Johannesburg to Jaipur. We’re particularly keen to hear from folks who are regional, remote, interstate and international from where our office is located in Melbourne.
The Digital Writers’ Festival will take place from 29 October – 2 November 2019, right here on the Internet.
Whether you have a specific idea for an event or project, or you’re just keen to be involved somehow, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re successful, we’ll help you refine your idea and pair you with other writers if need be.
We are particularly excited by outcomes that leverage existing digital technologies to tell stories in interesting ways, the collaborative possibilities of digital projects, and the access digital platforms can open up for folks who may experience barriers to participating in traditional literary festivals including regionally-based audiences and writers with a disability.
If you want an idea of what we’re looking for, take a look back at the 2018 and 2017 festivals before putting your application in. We look forward to hearing seeing you online for #DWF19!
